MALAWI: National campaign on Protocol launched by MCTU

On the Thursday the 20th August 2015, SATUCC’s affiliate in Malawi, the Malawi Congress of Trade Unions (MCTU) officially launched a national campaign on the ratification and implementation of SADC Protocol on Employment and Labour.
This official launching took place in the Capital City, Lilongwe.
In attendance at this official launch of the campaign were the top leadership of MCTU and its affiliates and representatives from the Ministry of Labour.
In his opening speech the President of MCTU, Comrade Chauluka Muwake called upon the Malawi Government to ratify the Protocol as a gesture of Government’s commitment to address the critical challenges confronting the labour market in Malawi.
This activity follows the official launching of the regional campaign on the ratification and implementation of the Protocol by SATUCC in July 2014 in Harare and subsequently the signing of the Protocol by Malawi in August 2014 in Victoria Falls during the SADC Heads of Summit.
