Southern Africa Trade Union Co-ordination Council

Regional Seminar of Trade Union Researchers on SADC Employment & Labour Protocol
Wednesday, May 17th, 2017

The Southern Africa Trade Union Coordination Council (SATUCC) is organizing a Regional Seminar of Trade Union Researchers on Ratification & Implementation of SADC Employment & Labour Protocol.  This seminar will be held from 30th to 31st May 2017, in Gaborone, Botswana.

In light of the resolutions around the Protocol made during the 9th SATUCC Delegates Congress held in August 2013, SATUCC launched a regional campaign on the ratification and implementation of the SADC Employment and Labour Protocol in Harare on the 28th July 2014.

In August 2014, the SADC Protocol on Employment and Labour was finally signed by the SADC Heads of States in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

It is against this background that SATUCC has planned to hold this regional seminar of trade union researchers to familiarize them with the processes around the Protocol and then explore the pivotal role that trade union researchers can play in strengthening national efforts on the campaigning for the ratification and implementation of the Protocol.
